“The Herbarium artwork was an exceptionally successful art project overall. Through artistic means, the plants that once grew on the site were captured to become a truly charming part of the newly built terraced houses. Each home was given its own plant motif, creating a unique identity rooted in the site’s past history. Collaborating with Annastiina was seamless, and the final result is stunning.”

I designed the Herbarium art series under the percent-for-art principle for the Vanamo and Leinikki housing cooperatives in Vuores, Tampere. Before construction began, I collected a herbarium directly from the site. Based on these pressed botanicals, I created a unique, sandblasted glass plant motif for beside each home's entrance, which also gently illuminates the doorway.
